A second kid comes along (Vanessa) in 1980 and they get married and he brings her back to the states. Fast forward a few years and mom divorces dad after 3 years and runs off with a new serviceman taking the kids along to live in Turkey, then when Vanessa is 11 mom drops off her and her half-brother at her daddy's door and splits for good.
